La Trobe Student Association Election 2025
Elections for the La Trobe Student Association (LTSA) will be held online from Tuesday 30th September to Monday 6th October. The election will cover the Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo, City, Mildura, Shepparton, and International Student Councils.
The Returning Officer in charge of the election is Ciara Griffiths of Above Quota Elections, who can be reached at ltsa@abovequota.com.au. The Deputy Returning Officer is Patrick Clearwater. The elections are held under the rules established by LTSA’s Electoral Regulations and Constitution.

Notice of Election
Notice of the 2025 La Trobe Student Association elections is hereby given on Monday 15 September, 2025.
The following positions are open for election:
- Albury-Wodonga Student Council (9 to elect)
- Bendigo Student Council (8 to elect)
- City Student Council (8 to elect)
- Mildura Student Council (7 to elect)
- Shepparton Student Council (7 to elect)
- International Student Council (6 to elect)
Students are eligible to nominate for the Student Council representing the campus of their primary enrolment, and all international students (including those at Bundoora) are eligible to nominate for the International Student Council. To nominate, you must be a member of LTSA at the moment nominations close: you can join the LTSA for free.
Not sure which is your primary enrolled campus? Contact the Returning Officer (from your student email account) and we can verify you appear on the roll.
Nominations will open from Monday 15th September until 5pm, Monday 22nd September. For any Councils with unfilled vacancies, a second round of nominations may run from Tuesday, 23rd September until 5pm, Monday 29th September.
How to Nominate
Nominations will open Monday 15th September for the following Student Councils:

- Shepparton Student Council (7 to elect)
- International Student Council (6 to elect)
Nominations will run from Monday 15th September until 5pm, Monday 22nd September.
To nominate for a position, check your student inbox for an email from ltsa@abovequota.com.au with instructions and a unique link to submit your nomination. If you are unable to find this email, please check your spam folder, otherwise contact the Returning Officer as soon as possible.
Eligibility criteria: in order to nominate as a candidate you must meet the following criteria at the time nominations close:
- You must be a current member of the LTSA: you can join the LTSA, for free, on the LTSA website by following this link. Please note that LTSA membership is annual, it does not renew automatically! If you are not sure if you are a member, please contact the LTSA to confirm, or complete the membership form again.
- For Campus Student Councils: you must be primarily enrolled at the campus you’re nominating for. (For example, nominees for the Bendigo Student Council must be Bendigo students.)
- For the International Student Council: you must be an international student. Additionally, students eligible for the International Student Council and their Campus Council may nominate for both, but can be elected to only one. You will be required to nominate a preference in case of conflict.
- For students holding dual enrolments: you may only nominate for the campus upon which you are primarily enrolled by course location. If you are unsure of what campus you are primarily enrolled, contact the Returning Officer – we can verify you appear on the roll.
How to Vote
All eligible voters will be sent a personalised ballot link on Tuesday 30th September. You will have until 2pm (Melbourne time) on Monday 6th October to vote, so don’t delay – make your voice heard. (Note: The ballot email is personalised for you, so please don’t forward it to anyone)
You can vote for the Student Council representing your primarily enrolled campus. International students can also vote for the International Student Council.
Bundoora students are represented by the separate La Trobe Student Union. Domestic students enrolled at Bundoora are not eligible to vote in LTSA elections. International student enrolled at Bundoora can vote for the International Student Council.
Candidate policy statements will be made available on the ballot, and also on this website, following the close of nominations.
If you have not received your voting link by Wednesday 1st October, contact the Returning Officer and we can arrange for it to be resent.
You do not need to be an LTSA member to vote.
Please Note: all voting is online – there is no provision for voting on campus or by post.

The Returning Officer is responsible for administering the election, interpreting the Electoral Regulations, and responding to complaints. The Returning Officer is an independent appointment, and is not an employee of either LTSA or La Trobe University.
