Notice of Election
Notice of the 2024 La Trobe Student Association elections is hereby given on Monday, 26th August.
The following positions are open for election:
- Albury-Wodonga Student Council (8 to elect)
- Bendigo Student Council (6 to elect)
- City Student Council (8 to elect)
- Mildura Student Council (9 to elect)
- Shepparton Student Council (8 to elect)
- International Student Council (7 to elect)
Students are eligible to nominate for the Student Council representing the campus of their primary enrolment, and all international students (including those at Bundoora) are eligible to nominate for the International Student Council. To nominate, you must be a member of LTSA at the moment nominations close: you can join the LTSA for free.
Not sure which is your primary enrolled campus? Contact the Returning Officer (from your student email account) and we can verify you appear on the roll.
Nominations will open from Monday 2nd September until 5pm, Monday 16th September. For any Councils with unfilled vacancies, a second round of nominations may run from Tuesday, 17th September until 5pm Friday 20th September.
How to Nominate
Because some vacancies remain unfilled, in accordance with the Electoral Regulations, nominations will be re-opened from Tuesday 17th September for the Albury-Wodonga, Mildura, and Shepparton Student Councils. This second period will run until 5pm, Friday 20th September 2022.
Nominations re-opened on Tuesday 17th September for the following Student Councils*:
- Albury-Wodonga Student Council (6 to elect)
- Mildura Student Council (8 to elect)
- Shepparton Student Council (4 to elect)
* Note: Originally Bendigo Student Council was listed as re-opened with one vacancy, however, a subsequent review of nominations received by Monday 16th September showed that there were six eligible nominations, meaning no vacancies remain and nominations should not have been re-opened. We apologise for the error in the notice of re-opened nominations.
Nominations will run from Tuesday 17th September until 5pm, Friday 20th September.
To nominate for a position, check your student inbox for an email from ltsa@abovequota.com.au with instructions and a unique link to submit your nomination. If you are unable to find this email, please check your spam folder, otherwise contact the Returning Officer as soon as possible.
Eligibility criteria: in order to nominate as a candidate:
- You must be a member of the LTSA: you can join the LTSA, for free, on the LTSA website by following this link.
- For Campus Student Councils: you must be primarily enrolled at the campus you’re nominating for. (For example, nominees for the Bendigo Student Council must be Bendigo students.)
- For the International Student Council: you must be an international student. Additionally, students eligible for the International Student Council and their Campus Council may nominate for both, but can be elected to only one. You will be required to nominate a preference in case of conflict.
- For students holding dual enrolments: you may only nominate for the campus upon which you are primarily enrolled by course location. If you are unsure of what campus you are primarily enrolled, contact the Returning Officer – we can verify you appear on the roll.
How to Vote
All eligible voters will be sent a personalised ballot link on Monday, 23rd September. You’ll have until 2pm (Melbourne time) on Monday 30th September to vote, so don’t delay — make your voice heard. (Note: The ballot email is personalised for you, so please don’t forward it to anyone.)
You can vote for the Student Council representing your primarily enrolled campus. International students can also vote for the International Student Council.
Note: Bundoora students are represented by the separate La Trobe Student Union. Domestic students enrolled at Bundoora aren’t eligible to vote in LTSA elections. International students enrolled at Bundoora can vote for the International Student Council.
Candidate policy statements will be made available on the ballot, and also on this website, following the close of nominations.
If you haven’t received your voting link by Tuesday, contact the Returning Officer and we can arrange for it to be resent.
You do not need to be an LTSA member to vote.
Please Note: all voting is online — there is no provision for voting on campus or by post.
